Stories of Life

I’m inspired by the stories of life…yours, mine, all of ‘em…they’re the music of life. For lotsa years, I simply wrote my interpretations of those influences purely for my eyes and ears…sort of a personal journal of life’s revelations. One day I grabbed my guitar and figured to take some of those puppies to various jams-n-pickin’ parties, throw ‘em up on the wall of public opinion…danged if some of ‘em didn’t stick.

In the lovin’ hands of our Father, as He conducts the perfect and grand orchestration of life, you and I get to play an integral part in His glorious and beautiful songs…what a blessing! I know there are better pickers-n-singers out there…better songwriters too. But ya know?…I don’t believe there’s anybody anywhere who can tell their story better’n them, your story better’n you, or mine better’n me…so here we go. Welcome to a simple collection of life stories…from the vantage point of Music Mountain.

DEER LORD

On our way back to Austin one evening I took an unplanned census on the road between Eden and the 281 bridge…for all my huntin’ friends out there, I can emphatically state that the Central Texas deer population is hearty, … Continue reading

COACH

One of my favorite Bible stories tells of a shepherd boy and an uncircumcised philistine giant.  What I always appreciated about that youngun was this…in spite of the situation and no matter the perception of others–he’s too big to hit … Continue reading

TIME

Jeniece and I were talkin’ this afternoon about ‘time’…’how much time do we have’–‘is this the right time for this or that’–’what is time anyway’.  I get sidetracked at times, tryin’ to figure this time thing out.  I spend so … Continue reading

GRATEFUL

Chair time was special today…I spent most of it just bein’ grateful.  Do you remember this sayin’: ‘I’m not what I oughtta be, I’m not what I’m gonna to be, put thank God I’m not what I used to be’? … Continue reading

BASKING

Something happened today that was so beautiful.  Many of you know Jeniece is not only a great speaker and style counsel (excuse my prejudice!) but she is also a dang good writer.  She read one of her poems tonight while … Continue reading

WHENS

I didn’t make it to the chair today…spent most of my by-myself-time thinkin’…maybe I was daydreamin’…a little of both I suspect.  Read some in the Book…did a little prayin’ too.  This position Jeniece is in can be a real bear at … Continue reading

WHADDAYAKNOW

The chair was comforting today; I hopped in during the little one’s 2-hour powernap and proceeded to harangue the ratman…then realized Who was actually on the Throne!  I think I forget that sometimes durin’ my ‘I bind you in the Name of … Continue reading
